Making Time to Blog

Making time to blog has been a challenge lately.  I can remember over 10 years ago, working full time in the school library (which required 4:30 AM wake-ups for a commute) and still being able to blog and work on big blogging campaigns while still doing my mom and wife/keeping up the house duties.  I don’t know how I did it!  Haha! I can’t believe it has been almost a month since I last blogged.

However, it takes me so much longer to do anything around our home, so my mornings are spent trying to do one or two things that need my attention.  Then, I have to lie down for a couple of hours each afternoon.  Then I get up and start thinking about what to make for supper, and then clean up, etc.  By the time that’s over, it’s time for bed.  You would think this would not be the case with being home all day.  There don’t seem to be enough hours in the day.  But really, I’m just older, and my health is very different now.  It is what it is.

Speaking of blogging, I want to change the entire look of this blog.  It’s been great for the past 9 years, but I’m ready for a more minimalistic change.  There are also too many ads on here.  Sadly, they are all built into the theme/code of my blog, so I can’t remove them so easily without majorly screwing up my blog.  I’ll get there eventually!  I need to determine what I want and see if it’s doable or if I will need help.  The technical aspects of blog design have changed so much from when I last did it alone!

I haven’t been up to too much.  I’ve had a couple of doctor appointments last week.  I saw my cardiologist and got a good report.  I also had my eye doctor appointment, and the news was even better there!  Since starting my new medicines to help my blood sugar get under control, it has also helped with my eyes.  My sugar levels were very high the last time I had an eye exam.  It turns out that when they are under control, I don’t need a prescription that is as strong as mine!  I had to wear readers ALL the time to see much of anything, and now….I do NOT need readers!  I can’t believe it!  I even feel naked without them!  Haha!  I had to start wearing them constantly around the pandemic, so I am just amazed that I am seeing so well now.  My vision is still awful (-7.25 now, down from -8.5), but no readers necessary makes me super happy!  Young Man and I also have a dentist appointment tomorrow.  Just trying to get everything done during the summer while we have more time.

Hubby should be home tomorrow, and his vacation time begins. It will be a staycation for us, I suppose. There are no big plans. There are some things we really need to do around the house, and we also have an endocrinologist appointment out of town one of those days.

I guess I’ll leave you with my backyard pictures from yesterday.  I was SO excited to see the redheaded woodpecker at the suet feeder!  He was absolutely gorgeous!

Beetle is always curious about what’s going on at the squirrel feeders!

I’m always happy to see the red-breasted woodpecker!

Hope your summer is going well and that you are staying nice and cool! The heat has been just terrible lately! I hope to be back soon!

I am glad the medication is helping and hope you continue to feel better and stronger. I haven’t read blogs in several days and real life always takes precedent over blog life in my mind. Hope you are staying cool and enjoy the rest of your week!

Glad to hear your cardiologist appointment went well. I totally get it with blogging. I feel the same way. 10 years ago, I had kids home, I was taking care of my mom and volunteering for everything from PTA to theater costume making, Sunday school and girl scouts..and I too was blogging all the time, with deadlines. Now, with an empty nest and mostly quiet days, I’m lucky if I get one or two posts out a month and I rarely get time to answer emails or pop over to visit friends. I guess life has its twists and turns and our priorities – and energy levels – change.

Glad to see you post. Trust me, finding the time for everything – does seem to be an age thing. I remember working 40+ hours, taking care of the home and yard, camping, having friends over, etc. Now I do good to get the house and yard done! The older you get girl – the more that changes.
Glad you are both doing well.

Hello and Happy Summer to you dear Mandy!
It’s nice to catch up with you whenever you get a chance to blog. But I hope you always keep it fun – don’t sweat how often you’re here. 🙂
So happy to hear about good medical reports!! NO cheaters – that’s amazing!!
I agree that everything takes more effort now that we’re older. Acceptance is key and I think keeping gratitude in our hearts for all we ARE able to do. Lol
    Love seeing your wildlife. 💗
Blessings on the rest of your week. xoxo
