This post is all about new to me food and fashion! Ever since I left my job last year, I haven’t bought any new clothes. I’m also that person that will wear their clothes for years….yeaaarrrrsssss….without purchasing anything new. After I did a major closet cleanout, it left me with very, very little to choose from. I was down to three pull-on v-neck tees, four tee shirts, a pair of capris, and three nice pairs of shorts for summer. I had nothing nice to wear if I had to be anywhere nice. I finally had to break down and purchase a few things to help tide me over to fall and winter.
New Clothes
My mom had given me a gift certificate to a local clothing store downtown two years ago. I just honestly never had the time to use it. I was either working or just too exhausted on the weekend to go shopping. However, my biggest excuse for not using that gift certificate was that I hated shopping for clothes. I am very short (4’11) and also plus-sized. Everything looks just wrong on me and requires extensive alterations unless I find a unicorn piece of clothing that magically fits. That happens very, very rarely. So, I checked with the store to see if the gift certificate was still good, and they assured me it was. I popped in a couple of weeks ago and found two shirts I really liked, and surprisingly, they fit just right!
I wore this blue one to my son’s senior breakfast. It was super comfortable, and I love this shade of blue. I’m glad they had this one! I can tell it will be a favorite.
I haven’t worn this leopard print blouse yet, but I do have an occasion in mind to wear it soon! I just loved the print, and it’s just long enough to cover my stomach area. I’m really not crazy about the material (rayon), but I love all the colors! I am very picky about the fabrics I wear. I’m not a fan of polyester or rayon. Basically, anything that feels silky. Haha!
New Food
I also tried a new-to-me dish! This is pancit, a Filipino noodle dish. I did not make this. My sweet neighbor brought this over after she and a friend made a huge batch! She wanted me to try it, and I am now a HUGE fan! It’s noodles, cabbage, chicken, carrots, green beans, and seasonings. I’m going to beg her for this recipe. Haha! I’ve found a couple of recipes for this online that sounds easy enough to try. It was so delicious, and I ate about three meals from this.
New Problems
If you recognize what’s going on in this picture, you can understand we’ve had a minor tragedy. Haha! I always, always check my son’s uniform pants pockets before washing, and I have NO idea how I missed his AirPods. I consulted with Google and am trying the old “rice in the bag to dry them out” trick. I’m not very confident it’s going to work, though. I’ll keep ya posted!

Glad you found some new tops that you liked and fitted you. I like that leopard print one! I’m short and plump, myself!
I love pancit, although I haven’t had any in a long time. One of my co-workers used to make it and bring it to the office to share with everyone.
I hope the rice trick works on the AirPods and dry them out!

Hoi Mandy,
I find both tunics really nice, and light blue is such a lovely color. How great that you found something. As for me, I’m quite tall and slender 🙂 Real Dutch you know. Sounds like a good combo, but shopping for clothes isn’t my favorite pastime either. Some things make me look even skinnier.
Oh, that last photo speaks volumes. How inconvenient. Did it turn out okay?
Greetings,
Aritha

Love the new clothes you’ve found! I’m a shorty too (5’2&1/2″) and busty. Lol So it is always a challenge. And that meal sounds amazing!! Totally my jam. Fingers crossed you can save the airpods!! I hate when those things happen, but I do know the rice trick has worked.

Love the blouses, it’s fun to get new clothes that fit and feel right. I’m not a fan of clothes shopping anymore. Home decor, sure, but trying things on no longer excites me! Haha! Good luck with rice…been there!

Ick on clothes shopping-I so understand I am 5’1 and plus size (umm pleasantly plump) too…although since our son passed away 19 months ago, I have dropped 61 lbs. I did have to go clothes shopping for work (we have to dress business causal). Anyways, since we live in Florida my wardrobe now consists of capris, nice blouses, etc. Forgot the dressy clothes, I go for casual now, even at work. It is way too hot here.
Anyways, love the blouses and that noodle dish looks good. I hope the air pods dried out.

Hi Mandy. I hope your son’s airpods dry out. That Filipino dish looks delicious. So nice of your friend to share with you. I love your new shirts. It’s always fun to get a new clothing item that fits well. I hope you have a good weekend. See you again soon!

Clothes shopping isn’t near as fun as it was when I was young and skinny! Cute tops.
I hope the rice works!

I think there are very few of us that find clothing that looks good on our bodies, no matter what type. I’m glad that you found a couple of things that work for you. Good luck with the airpods. We have had some success with the rice trick before with a cell phone.
