Happy Belated 4th of July! I meant to put up a post yesterday, but the day got away from me so quickly.  Not that we did anything earth-shattering.  Haha! It was just another typical day around here but with the sounds of fireworks.

Raising the Flag

I had errands to run yesterday, and one was taking the Teen over to my mama’s house to help her with some projects around her home.  One of them involved putting up her new American flag because my mama would not acknowledge the 4th of July without raising a flag!  She assisted the Teen, donning her patriotic house dress and navigating it all with her rollator, and they got the job done!

Celebrating with Good Food

Hubby did make it home yesterday afternoon, but we celebrated food-wise with tacos last night. Haha! While not your traditional 4th of July food, he grilled out this past Saturday evening because we weren’t sure he would be home for the 4th at all.  He did ribs and chicken on the grill, and I made the potatoes.  My mama supplied the corn and pasta salad.  It was quite a feast!  I don’t know how hubby withstood the heat to be outside grilling, but we sure love him for it!

After supper, we just relaxed in the living room while listening to the sounds of fireworks nearby. VERY nearby. Someone was setting off fireworks that sounded like literal bombs going off!  Poor Jake was outside the entire time, although I did call for him many times.  He eventually returned and was happy to stay indoors the rest of the night.  He didn’t even wake me up once to go outside!  We all slept well.

Patriotic Beanie Babies

I have more to report, but I’ll save it for another post once I get my brain working better.  Haha!  But I can’t close out this post without sharing my patriotic Beanie Babies!

They will have their time to shine this month on our mantle in the living room!

Hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July!
