It’s been an “out with the old” kind of start to summer for us. The cleaning-out and organizing bug has hit, and we’re running with it!
Summer Clean Out
Hubby has been a rock star at hauling off old junk from the backyard and our shed. Due to my health limitations, I mostly just stand back, supervise, and cheer him on. A few weeks ago, we finally removed the sliding board from the play fort in our backyard (it was covered in sap, and hello, our kid is 18 years old! Ha!) and moved some other junk out of the shed. It was a full truckload, and I was thrilled to see it go! Hubby has also been busy trimming tree limbs and hanging my ferns. I’m so thankful he is here to help!
I cleaned out several trash bags full of things to donate to our local thrift store. It was outgrown clothes and items I didn’t feel like putting on eBay. I got a great deal cleaned out, but would you believe I have already started another bag? I still have more to do, but it feels good to clear out some things. I love a clean space, closets included, and I just feel better mentally when everything has a purpose and is in its place!
Time With Mom
Mom and I made a stop last Wednesday at the local yard and garden center so she could get a couple of plants. Afterward, we stopped at a favorite lunch spot to eat. I always pretty much order the same thing when I come here, but it’s always so good! I had to bring the rest of my wrap home for supper that evening. It’s a lot of food!
The Teen and I took Mama to her heart doctor’s appointment in Jackson on Thursday. Mama has a bad knee, so I needed the Teen’s help to push her in a wheelchair once we got to the clinic.
It’s on a little incline, so we needed some manpower! He did a beautiful job, and Mama got a great report! We were also very thankful for that! Afterward, we hit up the Olive Garden for lunch and made the two-hour drive back home. I actually wore makeup that day! Here I am with my nerd glasses! Haha! I have to use reading glasses for everything now. These came in a pack of 6 (different colors), and I have yet to break a single pair! I’m pretty impressed, and they also have the blue light blocker in them.
Procrastinating
I’ve been trying my best to keep up with the usual blogs I read. I haven’t blogged myself in a couple of weeks, and I know I still need to put up a post about what I read last month. Maybe I’ll combine May and June at the end of this month. Haha! I feel bad for not being more attentive, but I do what I can most days, and sometimes that’s all I have the energy for. I’ll be trying to catch up on commenting soon. It also just seems like the days pass so fast. Of course, they do during the summer! Ha!
Another Puzzle Completed
I did finish another fantastic puzzle from Buffalo Games called Fourth by the Lake. I loved this puzzle, but the top part, where the fireworks are, was a real challenge. It turned out beautifully, and it was one of my super cheap $1 puzzles from the thrift store.
That’s all I’ve got for now! Hubby is taking vacation this week, so we are just hanging out, doing a few things on the “honey-do” list, and enjoying our time with him.

Well done on the yard and shed cleaning! And all the decluttering you mentioned in a previous post!

Right there with you when it comes to all things blogging…I have been caught up in summer things and reading and writing haven’t been high on that list! We also have to clean up and out. I have a donation truck stopping by on Monday and I’m determined to unload a lot. Fingers crossed…ps…you look beautiful, love the new glasses!!
Mandy says
Aww, thanks Kim! I do love my nerd glasses! Haha! Hope the donation truck haul-off was a huge success! It just feels good to clean up and clean out!

Good for you for doing clean up. We still have a slide like that from our kids – and now the grands use it.
Your food is making me hungry, looks so good! Glad your Mom’s report was good.
You look cute in those glasses.

I know what you mean about blogging. Sometimes I just don’t have it in me after all the other stuff, but we always enjoy reading a post.
It always feels so good to clean out things. I have been working on things and trying to really be careful abut what I bring back in. Now, books are always a challenge for me.
Good for Mom on her good report.
Mandy says
Yes, bringing in more books is a real problem for me as well! Haha!
