I have concluded that May just may be our busiest month! Having left my job in education, I forgot just how many end-of-the-year activities take place. We’ve also had some special days to celebrate, as well.
School Winds Down
I think The Teen and I were glad to see his junior year wind down. I could tell he was burned out and stressed over his final projects. I’m happy to report he pulled off his last semester with great grades and received two academic awards, which we were very proud of at Awards Day.
He also had to participate in Class Night and had an end-of-the-school-year pool party for his class. He enjoyed the pool party and finished his exams last Wednesday. It blows my mind that he will be a SENIOR in August! My head is swimming with everything we will have going on. I’m keeping him busy this summer with applying for college scholarships and earning some volunteer hours he has to have to graduate. I’m also trying not to get too far ahead by getting in my feelings about him being all grown up. He was two years old when I started this blog.
Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day was just fantastic! I received beautiful cards, flowers, and an Amazon gift card, which is always appreciated! We joined my mom at church, and then afterward, we all joined my uncle, aunt, cousins, and some church friends for lunch at The Warehouse. I chose a sandwich and broccoli salad, which was absolutely delicious! I have been craving that sandwich here lately again! Ha!
So what did I end up spending my Amazon gift card on? I snagged book 2 in a series I am reading on my Kindle, and I also got two face serums. I don’t know why I get so obsessed with skincare in the summer, but a couple of years ago, I tried out some products from The Ordinary and recently dug them out again. I love the Caffeine Solution for de-puffing my under-eye area in the morning.
I was also using another one of their serums and found it a little too drying, so I decided to try two different ones. The first one I got was: The Ordinary – Amino Acids + B5 A Concentrated Hydration Support Formula which is supposed to help with hydration.
I also got The Ordinary Buffet and Copper Peptides, which target signs of aging and crow’s feet.
I know neither of these products will turn back the clock on the sun damage and aging happening to my face, but it makes me feel better to at least take care of what I do have. I’ll report back on how these work for me!
We also celebrated hubby’s 47th birthday last week! He was out of town on his actual birth date, so we had to wait until he got home to give him his cards and present. He’s really low-key and doesn’t want a big fuss made over him, so we celebrated very small.
And Other Stuff…
Hubby and I went for our three-month checkups at our endocrinologist last week. He got a glowing report, and I’m still about the same. I was disappointed to see I had gained about five pounds. My cholesterol is still not great, and I just haven’t had much energy to do much about it lately. I’m praying that will change, and perhaps the Teen and I can get in some short walks in the mornings.
I also finally finished another puzzle! This was a Ravensburger called Amsterdam, and it was probably the most challenging one I’ve done yet!
It reminded me of a Where’s Waldo? kind of thing. It frustrated me many times, and I had to walk away from it quite a bit. It took over a month to complete. I hate that the colors don’t look as vivid in this picture as in person. It was a great-quality puzzle! I’m now working on a new one, and it’s also proving challenging. But that’s what makes puzzles so worth it, right?
And, of course, slow summer days mean getting in some naps, and this guy is ALWAYS up for a good nap!
So that’s what we’ve been up to over the last couple of weeks. I’m happy to see things slowing down a little for us and ready to enjoy another long, hot summer!

Congrats to your son! I have a junior too. She is also burned out (has over 4.0 GPA with honors courses) between school and the end of hockey season. She sees summer in sight and can’t wait! lol
That puzzle is epic!! I have just been getting on the healthier bandwagon again too. Trying to incorporate more fasting (do majority of hours overnight) as it really helps me feel better and it must shrink my tummy because it makes me want to eat less. And I’ve been moving my bod more everyday. My boyfriend is a wonderful support that way and loves to walk and be outdoors too. We have some hikes and lots of golf planned this summer too! I think if you can find things you enjoy that just happen to include some exercise…it can really be a win-win. 😉 Blessings to you xo

Congrats to the teen! Yes, it does go by so fast. Before I know it my oldest granddaughter will be a teen…
I’ll be interested in how that serum works. Glad you had such a nice day.
That puzzle does have a Where’s Waldo look. It looks very hard!
