What I Bought During the After-Christmas Sales

Spread the love

Today I’m sharing what I bought during the after-Christmas sales. I love receiving gift cards during the holidays, and I also love to check out all of the after-Christmas sales to see what I can find and just how far I can stretch each gift card.  I’m not a big shopper, nor am I a fashionista. Still, I’ve decided that going into the new year, I want to be very thoughtful about what I purchase, and sometimes that might mean spending a little more for a quality item that will last longer or give better results.

After Christmas sales

Bath & Body Works

Bath & Body Works currently has its 50-75% off Semi-annual sale.  They have so many great holiday soaps, candles, and bath products on sale, so I spent my BBW gift card on several hand soaps and some holiday-scented mini hand sanitizers for little happies for next Christmas.

I love scented soaps that go with whatever holiday or season I’m currently in.  Getting a head start on next year’s stash makes perfect sense when they are on such a great sale!

Sephora

After taking Christmas pictures, I saw that my current foundation routine makes me look older.  As I’ve aged, my skin feels drier, and my current foundation seems to magnify my wrinkles.  Adding powder on top of it makes me look ghostly.  So, I spent my Sephora Gift Card on some Charlotte Tilbury Mini  Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray because I’ve read that using a setting spray instead of powder can give a more youthful, fresher look.  I decided to purchase the mini size just in case it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.  I’ll also be switching up my current foundation, but I haven’t decided yet which one I will choose.

Amazon

My big splurge with my Amazon gift cards was on a Kindle Paperwhite.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

I have been turning the decision to buy one over and over in my mind and just decided to take the plunge! I read books on my iPad through the Kindle app but was looking for something lighter and more straightforward to read my books on. I was listening to a podcast, and the person speaking was singing the praises of the Paperwhite as a fantastic way to experience books. I was sold, and I can’t wait for it to arrive later this week!  I’ve had a Kindle Fire before, but it was many years ago.  I like the Paperwhite for its simplicity.  I don’t need it to function like a tablet.

I still have a few gift cards left to spend, but I’m currently looking at those websites to see what I’d like.  I may hang on to those for a while in case I see something in the future that really catches my eye.

Have you done any after-Christmas sales shopping?  If so, I’d love to hear about what you purchased.

I love to shop during the after-Christmas sales, but, this year, I didn’t shop for anything. I had already reached my holiday spending budget and that was that.

I don’t blame you. If I hadn’t had those gift cards, I wouldn’t have been shopping. You are always so good at budgeting. It’s inspiring! I hope I can do much better in that area this new year.

Hi Mandy, how nice! I love your blog post.

I actually don’t know about that: post-Christmas shopping. I also don’t do any Christmas shopping. I only buy when I need something. Especially books because I always need books, ha-ha. My husband says I should buy something for myself more often. So I do: especially diamond painting supplies. When I finish something, I buy something. Or a nice plant. Because I love plants. All year round. Not just in December.

It’s so nice to see your purchases and read about how happy you are with them.

Hi Aritha! I agree with you…books are the best! I plan to read so much more in this new year. I love plants, too. I have one I have managed to keep alive for seven years now! I’m generally not so good with them. I hope you have a wonderful new year!

You really scored, Mandy! You are a very savvy shopper. I have a Walmart card I still haven’t used from last Christmas. I’ve gone in there to use it many times and just cannot see that special something jump out at me and throw itself into my cart. ha ha! I bet you will really enjoy that new Paperwhite gadget for your books. I think I’ll go in there this week and see if I can find some coffee signs for my coffee nook project. You’ve inspired me to get out and spend it on some good sales!

I hope you can find some signs at a great price for your coffee nook! I have enjoyed your pictures of your Hen House! I sometimes hold onto gift cards for a long, long time. I need to spend one my mom gifted to me over a year ago! Yikes! Haha!

Sounds like you made some nice purchases. I ordered some of the clearance shower gel and body sprays for Rebecca and myself from Bath and Body Works. Other than that, I haven’t done any post Christmas shopping. I am planning to take the kids to Walmart tomorrow to spend their gift cards and I might look for a shirt to wear under a sweater that Bill got me. I am also trying to be purposeful about my purchases.

Don’t you just love B&BW? I could spend hours in there smelling all of the different scents! haha! Hope the kids found what they wanted with their gift cards!
