It’s been a birthday celebration weekend in our home. I turned 48 on Saturday, and once again, I am blessed to see another one. I’m so glad my birthday fell on a weekend this year. I usually end up having to work on that day and am usually too tired to care, much less go out and celebrate. However, with me being home now, I got to spend my special day with the people I care about the most, and I was so happy to do so!
Birthday Weekend
After dropping the teen off at school on Friday morning, hubby and I began our day with a stop at the bank and then on to Wal-Mart. We picked up a few groceries and then came home and put them away. We went and grabbed lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant, and I had a birthday margarita with my fajita potato.
It was delicious, and we headed back home afterward, where I was able to take a wonderful nap! Just those two excursions were enough to tire me out completely. Hubby did the after-school pickup, so I was able to rest until around 4 PM. That evening, we went out for my birthday supper. We went to the best locally-owned steakhouse in town and enjoyed a delicious ribeye with baked potatoe and salad. The teen had the cheeseburger and fries. We wonder if the Teen is really ours because he doesn’t love steak as much as hubby and I do. We joke, of course. The Teen is the absolute spitting image of hubby. I can remember not being very enthused about steak at his age, but I grew to love and appreciate it the older I got. In any case, we all left full and with me toting a to-go box. I was still not very hungry from lunch, but the steak was good again the next day.
Saturday was my actual birthday, and I spent it exactly how I wanted…at home in my lounge clothes. Ha! One day of outings was enough for this home-body, so I spent the day reading blogs, napping, doing a load of laundry, and had a visit from my mama. I had planned on making supper that night, but by the time it rolled around, I just wasn’t feeling like being on my feet much, so we got Chinese takeout instead. Hubby, my mom, the Teen, and even Jake, the cat, got me wonderful cards and gifts, and I feel very, very spoiled and so thankful! I also received birthday wishes from friends and family on Facebook, so it was fun to read through those. Here’s a peek at one of my gifts. I’ll explain it better in another post.
Rainy Sunday
Today was super rainy, so I did a load of laundry and some Bible reading. Hubby left out super early for work this morning, so I stayed up after he left, had some breakfast, and then went back to bed for a while before finally starting my day good a little later in the morning. I don’t have anything really pressing going on this week, so the Teen and I are going to attempt to start back on a walking regimen. We enjoyed walking around the neighborhood so much during That Time When We All Had To Stay Home, but just got out of the habit. We attempted a couple of times when school was out in June, but we couldn’t walk very far due to my stamina issues. The weather seems to be cooling off a little now, so he is anxious to start back. I am as well. It’s nice to get out and check out the neighborhood.
Halloween in August
Speaking of fall and cooler weather, look what I saw in Dollar General the other day!
I didn’t notice any Halloween decor in Walmart, but leave it to Dollar General to be on the ball! That store is even ready for Valentine’s Day before Christmas is good and over. Cracking up at the Oatmeal Creme Pies shoved on the upper shelf. Obviously, a choice was made. Haha!
