When I was a little girl, I adored all things cute. Glitter bracelets were totally my jam. Hello Kitty. Charm necklaces. I was convinced that Lisa Frank was a pure genius and had to have everything Lisa Frank I could get my hands on, especially the stickers. Oh yes, I was the queen of the sticker collection and still to this day mourn the fact that I probably threw away my sticker book when I was a teenager, convinced that I didn’t need that “baby stuff” anymore.
The other day I was at the dollar store looking for some small little trinkets to put in my treasure box for the kids in my library and stumbled across these:
Can we just take a small moment of silence for glitter bracelets and all the magical magic they are?
I couldn’t help it. I bought several packs of them for the treasure box and might have even saved a pack for myself because I knew my girls would just love them! And all of that glitter reminded me of the next best glittery thing I had growing up:
The glitter baton! Because why just twirl a regular baton when you could sparkle while doing it? And yes, every time I see a glitter baton I do a double take at the dollar store.
I also stumbled across this awesome Hello Kitty Nail Polish while searching for a nail polish color on Amazon. It even has glitter in it! I can remember going into a mall a couple of hours from where I lived back in the 80’s that had a Hello Kitty store. Nothing but Hello Kitty!! Hello!?? I was in heaven!
Last but not least, I think everyone needs a donut pillow. Because why not? I never had one of these growing up, but it’s so darn cute!
I don’t have a little girl at home, but I’m thankful I can spread a little fun to my students every now and then and share my love for all things cute. I may be in my forties, but my heart is still ten years old.
