The holidays may be coming to an end, but protecting your identity is something you should be vigilant about all throughout the year.  This is something I make a point to stay on top of because it can affect so many areas of your life, such as your credit score, credit card balances, and bank account balances.  I know over the holiday season I made many online purchases, but I felt comfortable in doing so because I trusted the merchants I bought from and I check our account daily to make sure no fraudulent charges are made.  For added protection, I also receive alerts from a credit-monitoring company.  Yet even still, if you’ve paid attention to the news recently, you know that a major retailer experienced a serious breach of security in their customer’s payment methods.

It’s no secret that identity thieves have some pretty unthinkable ways to steal a person’s identity.  One way you can protect your sensitive documents at home is to use a paper shredder.  The Fellowes P-12C paper shredder is a great way to make sure anything you throw away has been completely shredded.  I’ve been using this shredder to shred junk mail, credit card applications, and anything else that I don’t want to end up in the wrong hands.

The Fellowes P-12C is perfect for anyone, from the finance-savvy mom to the paper ridden college student.  This shredder is a serious workhorse, and includes:

⁃ Cross-Cut blades that destroy 12 sheets of paper into approximately 309 particles per sheet, making it extremely difficult to reassemble

⁃ SafeSense® technology which automatically disables the shredder when hands touch the paper opening

⁃ The ability to shred credit cards, paper clips, staples and junk mail for added convenience

I feel confident knowing that anything with sensitive information being thrown away in our home is no longer anything that can compromise my family’s identity.  The P-12C can be purchased at Walmart Stores nationwide and at www.Walmart.com for a suggested retail price of $99.97.

I LOVE my crosscut shredder, but every time I buy a new one (I burn them out because I use them so often. Sadly?) I wish I had bought one that did more sheets at once. I realized yesterday that since we’ve moved, I’m ready to shred all my utility bills from our last house since we definitely don’t need those anymore! 🙂

I’m pretty pleased with this one so far! I love that it’s strong enough to shred paper clips and credit/debit cards, too!
