We had so much goodness jam packed into this past weekend that I’m still trying to physically recover from it all. My baby (baby!) turned 8. He was three when I started this blog. I miss that sweet little three year old, but I love the young man he is turning into. Each stage of his life has been a learning one for him and my husband and I. He is our first and last, and sometimes the urge “not to screw this up” takes over me and I forget to relax and just enjoy this ride called parenthood. He’s a great kid, easy-going, and I am so blessed to be his mom.
He had his party this year at a local skating rink and he declared it the “best birthday party EVER!”. I have to agree, because all we had to do was bring the cake and the skating place took care of all the rest. Worth every penny!
My husband also received great news right before we left for the party. He has been a truck driver for a major carrier since 2001. He was just informed that he is receiving his Million Mile Award (accident-free!) in April. I am so proud that he is receiving this honor. We’re excitedly making plans to attend the banquet in April.
And me? On Saturday evening I had dinner with 3 amazing friends I’ve known since high school and a couple of them I hadn’t seen in YEARS. It was so great to catch up with them and the conversation flowed (for three hours! I’m sure they were happy to see us leave!) just like we had never missed a beat. We enjoyed ourselves so much and I am so glad everything worked out to where we could finally get together.
I promise you we’re just not used to so much excitement all in one weekend.

Sounds like a great weekend! Happy birthday to your son and congratulations to your husband. That is an awesome accomplishment. I haven’t had a girls night in years so I don’t think I would know what to do with myself. Glad you had a good time and got to catch up!
