Every spring my son enjoys “VIP” status at the county fair that rolls into town. His Paw-Paw just happens to work with other members of the American Legion at the admission gates that week to raise money for their programs that support veterans. Therefore, on the last day of the fair (Saturday), E.B. enjoys VIP parking (inside the gates), free admission at the gate, and usually a few free tickets for the rides.
This year E.B. enjoyed a few new rides he had never experienced. This one? made me super nervous.
I know. I know. It’s just a ferris wheel, but that was my baby waaaayyyy high in the sky. Yellow seat. At the top. My dad tried to convince me to come along for the ride, but I have found that the older I get, the less my stomach can stand such excitement, so my 70-year old dad got on this ride (!!!) with my son. That’s love, y’all. Before they went up my dad told the man operating the ferris wheel to stop at the top for a minute so my son could see the town below him. Since they were the only ones on the ride at the time, the worker obliged.
When the ride was over, E.B. came running up to me so excited.
“MOM!!! MOM!!! I could see BURGER KING!!!!!”.
That is some excitement-worthy stuff, y’all. I’m so glad he and my dad took that ride together. There are just some things only a grandparent can teach kids, including braving carnival rides.
E.B. also took a huge liking to the swings which were geared towards kids and didn’t go high. So much so that he refused to get off and we had to give the worker another ticket for a second ride. He loved it!
As always, a huge hats off to Miller Spectacular Shows who always put on a fabulous, family-friendly fair. The workers were all very professional and we always look forward to the next time.
