I’m still getting a feel for my library, and every so often I run across vintage children’s books still on the shelves. Most of them have been weeded out, but if they are still in pretty good shape, they are still there. I found this old book the other day and just fell in love with the beautiful illustrations.
This book, A Child’s Garden of Verses by Robert Louis Stevenson, had a copyright date of 1957. It hadn’t been checked out in years, and may not ever be again, but I thought it was certainly a treasure and plan to read aloud from it to my students.

I love to read books, regardless of if they’re new or vintage. I also like to look at the illustrations from older books. Kind of neat to see how they were compared to how they are now.
