An overall better mood and positive outlook on life are a few of the benefits I’m enjoying since starting the 30 Day Shred. Not that I wasn’t positive before, but I feel different, and in a good way. My endurance is increasing with each workout and I’m feeling pretty empowered by that. My energy level is greatly increasing and I wake up feeling much better.
My husband joined me in my Day 5 workout. We pushed through and it felt like I experienced an “energy high” afterwards. I know that’s probably not the best word to explain it, but I felt great! I’ve decided that working out with someone else is much more fun and helps the time pass faster. I have to admit I am bored to tears already with this workout, but I know I am not ready to move up to the 2nd level. The music annoys me and I’m sick of doing the same thing over and over. BUT…I promised myself I would do this 30 days and I am!
This morning’s workout marked Day 6 and I’m feeling a little foggy-brained. It was tough making it through the last circuit of cardio. I’m just glad to be done today.
Husband kept me very well-fed this weekend. I just have to brag on him because he is a Grill Master. We’ve enjoyed grilled steaks and chicken with salads the past few days and they were so delicious and healthy! I’ve checked my blood sugar a couple of times and eating healthier is keeping it in check much better. Just another benefit of this healthy lifestyle change! I’m a little discouraged with the scale results, however. I had lost two pounds a few days ago, then somehow regained them by yesterday. It sure makes it hard to want to stick with this when the scale doesn’t really move, but I have to keep going.
We joined the local recreational association yesterday and went swimming. E.B. had a blast and we will probably head there this afternoon also. Yet another great way to get exercise in!

Jenni, I’m so glad to hear everything is still going well for you! And you are so right….I had stopped drinking my water and let those nasty diet sodas creep back in! I’m going to try my best to limit them to once a day. I’m also feeling more hunger since working out and it’s getting tougher to turn down those unhealthy things I used to eat everyday. Must. Stay. Focused!! Ha!
I’m going to the store this weekend and will have to try your numbering the bottles of water trick.
Thanks for your continued encouragement!

I NEVER drank soda until Weight Watchers…ironic, huh? It was/is a reward for me. I would make it my goal to have 4 bottles of water down by 3:30 and then drink my Diet Dr Pepper (LOVE Sonic Happy Hour!) and have my last bottle with dinner. It worked for me because 3:30 was about as late as I could drink caffine and still sleep 😉

Yay! I’m glad it’s getting easier. I also understand about being bored to tears by doing the same workout over and over.
On the whole weight loss thing…
When I was doing Weight Watchers, they suggested 8 glasses of water a day. Now they are saying 6 glasses of water a day. I NEVER lost weight unless I was consistently drinking 10 glasses of water a day. That might be just my body, but play with it for a week and see if you tell a difference.
I had 5 – 16.9 oz water bottles in the fridge labeled with the numbers 1-5 and every day it was my goal to drink all 5 of them. I refilled and reused them for a week or so and then threw them out and got fresh bottles.
Also, I only weigh once a week. On the same day at the same time of day. My weigh in day is Saturday mornings right after I get up between 7 and 8 am. Your weight fluctuates throughout the week so it might be more discouraging instead of encouraging to weigh more than that.
As far as my summer-o-fitness is going…I’m still going to classes at the gym 5 days a week. They are getting easier and I am enjoying them. It’s like having several different workout videos so there is always variety. This week has been the best week if making it through the workouts and not feeling SO sore that night and the next day.
I’m eating healthier, but still not perfect. I need to work on that. Because I’m working out more (when I was on my own, I did 30 minutes of Shred or walking/jogging, the gym classes are an hour) I am HUNGRY! I need to work on giving my body good calories instead of junk calories.

OH! and now that I’m doing 1 hour 5 days a week, I have had to up my water. This week my goal is 7 bottles on my workout days and 5 on my off days.
